Volunteer Opportunities
Trax is a well established charity in Oxfordshire working with young people aged13-19 from socially deprived areas. In it's 25 years of operation, Trax has opened its doors to over 5000 marginalised young people. The young people we work with usually come to us with low educational achievements and a history of exclusion from mainstream education. They often have un-diagnosed or unsupported learning difficulties, low levels of literacy and complex home lives. Trax provides a supportive environment that allows young people to achieve qualifications and boosts self confidence and self esteem.

We are currently looking for volunteers in the following roles:

Workshop support technician
Youth workers
Catering assistant

Please contact Olivia for more information on volunteering at Trax 01865 318040

We currently need volunteers to help support the lead youth worker in delivering issue based sessions to young people aged 13-19. This covers a range of subjects including drugs education, sexual health, emotional wellbeing and more. This is a rewarding role and sessions are often fun and informal.

You would need a willingness to see things from a young person's perspective and have an understanding of issues that young people may face. Some youth work experience would be a benefit although willingness to learn and be involved is more important. This role could help those wanting to pursue a career in youth work; training will be given in relevant areas. Because the role involves working closely with vulnerable young people all volunteers will be required to undergo an enhanced CRB check and safeguarding training.

We currently need a mechanic to help support the delivery of mechanical qualifications to young people aged 13-19 in the workshop environment. This is a very rewarding position helping young people learn and progress in a relaxed environment.

The role would involve helping to plan and deliver sessions with the mechanics tutors therefore mechanical knowledge and experience would be necessary for this role. No formal qualification is needed but this would be a bonus. Experience of working with young people would be beneficial to the role but an understanding of issues young people face and a willingness to learn is more important.

Because the role involves working closely with vulnerable young people all volunteers will be required to undergo an enhanced CRB check and safeguarding training.

We run sessions Monday to Thursday during term time. Full days would run from 9.15am until about 3.30pm.
To ensure consistency to our students we ask for a minimum commitment of one day a week from each volunteer during term time.

We offer our volunteers a good training package and include: Safeguarding young people, Confidentiality, Data protection and Equality and Diversity. Further training needs can be discussed and arranged as necessary. Support will be given by our trained staff throughout the placement.

Expenses for travel will be reimbursed after initial trial period. We provide free meals and refreshments on site.

We regret we are unable to accept volunteers under 18 years of age.
